Beans and Seeds
About Us: Jaime Garza, a.k.a. Beans, grew up just outside of Detroit, Michigan. At the age of seven, his mother, involved in the music industry herself, arranged for his piano lessons. Since then, music has always been a part of his life and passion. Jaime moved to Englewood, Florida in 2004 and established his own cleaning supply business. During this time, he became part of the Punta Gorda Guitar Army where he met his partner, Mark. In January of 2007 they formed, “Beans and Seeds.” Mark Cangelosi, a.k.a. “Seeds,” sprouted from Staten Island in New York City. As the New York City School System excelled in the arts, Mark participated in numerous choral and theatrical groups starting with elementary school. He picked up his first guitar in 1966, and in 1972, he moved to Florida, where he held a career for 10 years in radio broadcasting. He worked at several Central Florida Radio Stations; and while serving the United States Marine Corp, he announced for the Far East Network in Iwakuni, Japan. During his time in Japan, he played guitar with fellow servicemen, Peter Cook and Ed Bagsley at the local stand bars. In 1984, during college, he found his passion for playing harmonica and performed solo in several Tampa, Florida coffee houses. In 1994, Mark became a member of “The Apollo Sweepers,” including Jeff Ramsland, Larry McCandless, and Michael Blair in Wauchula, Florida performing at local functions, charities, and church. Then, in 2000, upon moving to Port Charlotte, Florida, he joined the “Punta Gorda Guitar Army” where he met Jaime. The name, “Beans and Seeds” was Jaime’s idea. When he was growing up, because his last name was Garza, they called him Garbanzo Bean. Mark’s last name of Cangelosi sounded like Cantaloupe; hence, “Garbanzo Beans” and “Cantaloupe Seeds” became “Beans and Seeds!” “Beans and Seeds” performed from 2007 until 2020 and enjoyed the Southwest Florida Coast as a top notch, “acoustic duo." They entertained with a diverse array of songs from the 1960’s until now. Music genre included a great range from classic rock to modern day. They covered a variety from the Beatles, Van Morrison, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and CC Revival, to the Black Crowes, Bob Seger, Nirvana, Collective Soul and Pearl Jam. “Our performances are energy filled with great sounds from Two Guys, Two Guitars, and a Harmonica! We love to have fun!
